Rule Britannia!

Last night we had a lovely walk out to Cramond Island along a mile long causeway.  The evening was bright but cool.  We had seen the island from the promenade (near the caravan site) and we had wondered if it was a causeway or not.

The island was previously a Roman fort and had sea defences during the wars.

Today we set off early for the Royal Yacht Britannia.  Well worth the trip.  The weather was expected to be rainy all day but it turned out mainly dry.  We had our daily coffee and scone in the Royal Tea Room seated at table No1 with the best view.  The cheesy scone was of a particularly high standard as was the Assam tea served very nicely in a quality tea service.  I think we may have to start a website specially rating the quality of scones wherever we go!

The strange thing on the left is a 'binnacle', which is something that houses the compass on a ship's bridge!

We got back to the van to hear the sad news of Cilla Black's death in Spain. What a 'surprise, surprise'!

The rest of the day was spent back at the van relaxing.  After all, is this a holiday or what?
