Whilst reading the blog I hope that you are not under the impression that it is all fun and frollocking on our trip, in fact it is murder. So much so that Janice is not safe as you can tell from the title of the book...
It's been so tough that I had to take time out to de-stress this morning.
No, it isn't a horrific murder scene, it's me sunbathing, not pretty ehh!
Due to the sunshine and our morning physical jerks we set off to our next destination after lunch. We arrived at our CL at St Anne's Chapel near Bigbury in the administrative region of South Hams. The site is a large flat farm field. There is only one other caravan and sadly no hard standings. Surprisingly for such a small place the village has a pub and a shop.
The first thing we did was cycle down to Bigbury on Sea which is a wonderful beach that I've been to several times before. There is small island called Burgh Island that is accessible when the tide is low. Here is a couple of photos to show you how good it is.
The first photo is taken from the mainland and the second picture is taken from the island looking back to the mainland. The white building is a private hotel that is not open to non residents. It boasts several famous guests, such as Malcolm Campbell, Noel Coward and Agatha Christie. I think it may be the inspiration for Agatha Christie's '..And Then There Were None'. The local rumour is that guests are seen to arrive but few are ever seen again!
I think Janice was being a bit mischievous when she took this snap. Maybe she thinks I am a bit of a 'pilchard'. Little does she know that my mum used to feed us 'egg and pilchard' sandwiches when us Vernon boys were small. I think it was a form of parent cruelty to their children that needs to be investigated. It certainly had a massive impact on me as I grew up, you can trace my 'issues' back to those sandwiches! Anyway, any more naughty snaps like that and their could be another murder!!!
