Why don't you....turn off the TV and do something more interesting.

Monday 9th May 2016 - Looe.

Well we don't have a TV in the van I thought the blog title might be appropriate for a day that was forecast for rain.  Actually, it didn't start raining till after lunch so we walked down to Looe and posted some postcards and had a poor scone and even worse cup of coffee.

On the subject of postcards, we sent some postcards, second class, from Teignmouth at around 4pm and we know for a fact that Janice's Dad got his postcard before lunch the following day.  That's what I call a good mail service.  We posted some more today so I would be interested if anyone can tell us when they arrive.  One of the postcards was sent to Australia so I will excuse that one from the race to be delivered.

On our walk down to Looe we spotted this butterfly.  I wonder if anyone can identify the variety?

We made a mistake whilst in Looe by going into a 'tearoom' for a coffee. We ordered two americano coffees and two fruit scones.  A brown muddy looking substance came in two small china cups, closely followed by two blobs that were only just identifiable as fruit scones.  I must have been very placid because I didn't complain, I just took the attitude that I won't be coming again and it's a waste of time and effort complaining but whilst it's predictable that a tea shop might not do good coffee it is not acceptable for a tea shop to have a dodgy scone.

Our afternoon was almost completely taken up with doing puzzles and reading....who needs a TV!  We had lovely left over hotpot for tea.

Tuesday 10th May 2016 - to Mevagissey.

The forecast had been pretty poor for today too...but it turned out to be a lovely sunny afternoon and rather hot.  We are having a problem maintaining our 'way of life' on this trip it is far too tempting for it to become a holiday!  The site is about 1 mile from the town and is really quiet and lovely.  There is a paddock opposite our van with ponies and just after we got set up a swallow flew into the van and struggled to find its way out. Janice was the heroine as she pinned it in a corner with a towel and helped it to freedom.

We walked down to Mevagissey and loved the place.  It has a double harbour and lovely multicoloured houses, small lanes,  nice shops and eateries.

Three photos showing 3 birds perching??

We succumbed to the temptation to have a swift half of cider at the pub, followed by an ice cream by the harbour (see what I mean about it feeling a bit holiday..ish).  The sea gull almost took our heads off as it landed.  I think it was after some of our ice cream but it didn't get a chance.

We took a longer route back to the van and got a bit lost in the process. Never mind we found our way back and we weren't exactly under any time pressure.
