Saturday 7th May 2016 - Bigbury.
It was a little bit showery in the morning. Only light rain but we held back from setting off. We weren't too sure what we were intending to do until Janice had the great idea to cycle to Modbury and then catch a bus to Plymouth.
It happened to be Modbury Fair which involved several stalls, some live music and a parade later in the afternoon which we would probably miss.
We caught the bus and managed to get prime position at the front on the top deck. We ve both been to Plymouth before but it was nice to see the Hoe.
We had been tipped off that the Royal William Yard was worth a visit so we walked around the coastline and found the series of naval buildings that are now converted into shops, bars and apartments. It was very well preserved.
It was at this time that we found out that Burnley had beaten Charlton 3-0 and were now league champions. I know every non Burnley fan couldn't care less but it is my blog!
We caught the ferry back to the Barbican area of Plymouth and headed straight for the Plymouth Gin factory. They had a very nice bar too......we had to try it, honest!
We were told that Plymouth Gin is a little sweeter than many others. I had to have a second opinion.
Back on the bus to Modbury and a cycle up the hill to the camper van. Our tea was ready in the slow cooker...a nice hotpot using the Lea and P from the pub near Torcross. Lovely.
